NASCAR: Trade in Confederate flags for Stars and Stripes

Race fans this weekend will be offered the chance to exchange any Confederate or other flags they own and get a free U.S. Flag that they wave proudly at the track.

NASCAR retus over the Independence Day weekend for races on Saturday and Sunday.

Although it may be hard to police, Chairman Brian France doesn't want to see Confederate flags at the tracks.  Yahoo! sports reports that favorite driver Dale Eahardt Jr. also feels that way.

Daytona Inteational Speedway Track president Joie Chitwood told the Orlando Sentinel the flag exchange was decided upon to ensure that patriotic fans "wave our nation's flag. It's our nation's birthday."

Details on the flag exchange are forthcoming.
