Gwinnett County police say an elderly man who had been missing for nearly 24 hours was located in South Carolina.

Officers told Channel 2’s Kerry Kavanaugh that 84-year-old Ralph Parris left his home in Lilbu about 7 p.m. Thursday to collect rent money from a property he owns in Decatur.

Parrish called his wife about 10:30 p.m. and said he was lost in the area of Interstate 85 and Interstate 20 in southwest Atlanta.

"He called her and said he was lost, felt like he had been driving a hundred miles," said daughter Sandra Parrish.

His wife gave him directions to get home, but Parrish had not been heard until Friday evening. Gwinnett County Police told Channel 2 Action News that Parris was located in South Carolina and his car was disabled. No further information was available about his discovery.

Parrish's family said he suffers from dimentia and takes medication. They planned to travel to South Carolina immediately to reunite with Parrish.
