Missing Griffin children found, father Kenneth Owens turns himself in
Griffin Police say a man and his two missing children have been located and the father has tued himself in to authorities.
Police say Kenneth Gregg Owens, 37, took his kids from their Griffin home to keep them out of the hands of DFACS workers. His children are identified as 9-year-old Kaden Owens and 11-year-old Luke Owens.
According to police, a court order was issued on August 25 ordering the two boys into the custody of the state. Police say Owens and his wife Kelly Bunn were supposed to appear in court, but they never showed up. Owns and his two sons have been missing ever since.
Police charged Bunn with first degree child cruelty and interference with custody.
Police say Owens contacted a Griffin attoey Tuesday moing. The attoey contacted police and made plans for Owens to tu himself in, according to the Griffin Police Department.
Police say Owens was taken into custody Tuesday afteoon. The two boys have been placed in DFACS custody. Police say the children appeared to be in good health.
Owens has been charged with kidnapping, interference with child custody and first degree child cruelty. He is being held at the Spalding County Jail.
