Missing DeKalb teen Derrick Linkhorn found dead

A missing DeKalb County teen was found dead Friday moing.

Family members said a body found in an abandoned Decatur apartment building is 19-year-old Derrick Linkho. He was shot to death.

Linkho disappeared from the Kensington MARTA station in Decatur after heading there from Elizabeth Andrews High School on March 8. His mother said a friend left him in the parking lot.

”The best friend said that he talked to Derrick around about 4 o'clock and said Derrick was getting on the bus, Linkho’s mother, Gowanda Haynie, said.

Linkho never came home that day. Haynie said it wasn’t like him.

”He's never did anything like this, she said.

Family members organized a search party but were unable to find him. Officers said they figured out what happened using MARTA’s surveillance video.

Police said the video showed the victim walking away from the station with a group of men. Around two hours later, the three men retued without the victim but were wearing his clothing.
