Men Sought In Woman’s Torture, Slaying

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. -- Clayton County police have identified a person of interest in the gruesome killing of a young mother.

Demetrist Potts, 28 was tortured and killed at her Jonesboro home in April 2008. Police said two men broke into her house to rob her. They said the killer tried to strangle Potts with a cable cord, then cut her throat.

Potts’ fiance, Mikal Roland, found her body. Her 5-month-old child was also found unharmed. Potts' twin sister, Cometrist, said her family will never be the same.

”For my family, it’s been difficult. I want closure to my niece, she said.

After a four-year investigation, Clayton County police Capt. Wilfred Norwood believes he’s pieced the cold case together.

”We believe we know who the killer is, Norwood told Channel 2’s Ryan Young.

Norwood said he needs the public’s help finding two men in connection to the crime. Police have released a photo of a man identified as a person of interest. Norwood said the robber was evicted from his home the day before the killing. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation released a sketch of another man that authorities said was with the first man.
