Melissa Blue Faces New Charges After Abuse Victim Dies
A 13-month-old baby left in an SUV in sweltering temperatures outside a day care center in Akron, Ohio, died on Friday.

MARIETTA, Ga. - Charges against a Cobb County woman have been upgraded after her 80-year-old mother passed away. Authorities say Melissa Blue’s mother was found living in utter filth, and Blue now faces charges of felony murder and elderly neglect and cruelty.

Marietta police arrested Blue, 49, on cruelty charges earlier this month after her mother had to taken to the hospital. Authorities say 80-year-old Evelyn Blue, who was bedridden, had been staying at a Howard Johnson hotel on Delk Road with her daughter for some time.

Sources tell FOX 5 that the motel room was filthy and that Blue declined the already-included daily cleaning service. It was so bad that the paramedics, police and crime scene investigators wore masks and footies as they worked the scene.

Detectives say they got a call for medical attention. Once emergency crews arrived on the scene, the elder Blue was then taken to Kennestone Hospital for malnourishment and severe bed sores among other urgent health issues. That is where she stayed until her death Sunday moing.

Melissa Blue remains in the Cobb County Jail.
