McDonough teen Robert Huynh charged in deadly hit-and-run
MCDONOUGH, Ga. - Police have charged a man for a deadly hit-and-run crash that killed a Henry County teen this week.
Robert Huynh, 19, was arrested at his McDonough home around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday night and charged in the death of 16-year-old Tasia Gartner, according to the Henry County Police Department.
He's accused of hitting Gartener with his vehicle on State Road 81 Monday night and leaving the scene, then taking his damaged vehicle to Gwinnett County to have it repaired.
Surveillance video from a nearby business showed Gartner and her friend running across the road just before the teen was struck. In the video, Gartener's friend first crossed successfully and waited. Then, Gartner let a car to her left pass before entering the roadway. Police said that's when she was struck by a car from her right.
Huynh is facing a number of charges, including hit-and-run resulting in death, failure to report accident and vehicular homicide in the 1st degree. He was arrested without incident, police said.
His bond has been set at $50,000.
If you have any information regarding the crash, you're asked to contact Henry County Police at 770-288-8291.
Gartner's services will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home located at 2030 Memorial Park Road Gainsville, Georgia Sunday, June 25.
