Massage parlors shut down for suspected sexual activity in metro Atlanta
In a coordinated enforcement action this week, Sandy Springs police, backed by federal partners, closed down multiple massage businesses in northern Fulton County amid allegations of illicit sexual activity tied to prostitution and potential human trafficking.
Officers executed search warrants Thursday at two establishments, Pileo Therapy and Pearl Massage, shuttering them on the spot as part of the investigation, authorities said. Police Chief Ken DeSimone made clear the operation targeted suspected “sex-for-money” transactions rather than legitimate therapeutic massage services.
During the raids, law enforcement detained three women. Two are facing charges linked to maintaining what local ordinances describe as a “house of ill fame,” a term used to address brothel-like operations. A third woman, who identified herself as the owner of Pearl Massage, has also been charged with solicitation, allegations she denies.
Officials say officers are continuing to review evidence, including surveillance of vehicle tag numbers around the businesses, and have sent closure notices to two additional locations, Jade Spa and Massage Spring, which had already ceased operations before investigators could enter.
While the current charges stem from municipal code violations, police indicated they could be upgraded or expanded if further evidence warrants felony counts or additional arrests. Victim support advocates were on site, though authorities did not confirm whether any trafficking victims have been identified.
Law enforcement officials are urging anyone with information about suspected trafficking or related activity to come forward, pointing to resources such as the National Human Trafficking Hotline.
