MARTA restores credit, debit card service
MARTA fixes problems with passes

MARTA officials said they have fixed a software glitch that stopped riders from using their debit and credit cards for more than a week.

MARTA officials announced the update in a press release on Sunday afteoon.

Officials called the glitch an ”extremely unusual problem caused by a software upgrade meant to comply with the latest credit and debit card security standards. The upgrade rather disabled the system’s ability to accept debit cards and, earlier, credit cards during the Labor Day weekend.

The system only accepted cash between Aug. 31 and Sept. 4.  MARTA made a partial repair for credit cards on Sept. 4, in time for Tuesday’s rush hour.
