Marijuana Growing Operation Raided In Newton County

NEWTON COUNTY, Ga. -- A large marijuana growing operation was uncovered in Newton County on Monday, officials said.

Agents with the Newton County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigation Unit made the discovery in the 500 block of King Bostwick Road in the southe part of the county.

More than 1,100 marijuana plants were found, officials said. The plants were being grown in three buildings, and brought in an estimated $8 million per month, officials said.

Two people were arrested and others were being sought in connection with the crime, officials said.
