Man Shot by Police in Mableton Identified as Gary Huel Jones
MABLETON, Ga. - Cobb County officials have identified a man shot to death by police in Mableton.
Investigators say the shooting happened Sunday night. They say they received a report of a man armed with a knife, and two uniformed officers were sent to the scene.
They say officers attempted to persuade 29-year-old Gary Huel Jones, who was inside the home, to surrender peacefully.
Officials say Jones confronted the officers with a knife, compelling the officers to shoot him.
Officials say an investigation continues.
