Man Shot, Dumped After Party At Carroll County commissioner’s house,

CARROLL COUNTY, Ga. - A man was shot and left stranded after a party at a Carroll County commissioner’s house, authorities said.

Carroll County commissioner Kevin Jackson told Channel 2’s Tony Thomas that he and his wife were out of town when his son had several friends over the house on Saturday.

”It appears that alcohol was involved at the party. We are still trying to sort out exactly what was going on at that party, Georgia Bureau of Investigation agent Scott Dutton told Thomas.

GBI spokesman Bankhead said someone brought a gun to the party. At some point, a 21-year-old man was shot, investigators said.

A 911 worker was told that the victim was being taken to Tanner Medical Center, but the two never made it there, Bankhead said. Investigators said instead, 21-year-old suspect Zachary Sibley drove him around for a few miles.

Nearly four hours later, authorities said they found the victim’s body near Cross Plains Road and Hutcheson Ferry Road.

Deputies discovered that the victim was still alive, Bankhead said. The victim was airlifted to Grady Hospital, where he was in critical condition.

GBI agents took out warrants and arrested Sibley. He was charged with various offenses including aggravated assault, pointing a pistol at another and reckless conduct. He was being held at the Carroll County Jail.

Jackson said he couldn’t speak extensively about the incident because it is an active investigation, but he said he is thinking about the victim’s family.

”Our hearts and prayers go out to the family of the victim, and we are working as closely as we can with law enforcement," Jackson told Thomas.
