A MAN has reportedly killed himself at Olivia Newton-John's Florida mansion.

The Palm Beach Post reports Sergeant Scott Pascarella as saying the deceased is a male who is not related to Newton-John or her husband John Easterling and does not live at the home.

Sgt Pascarella said Newton-John and Easterling are currently out of town and not staying at Jupiter Inlet Colony.

They have not been at the home in months.

Contractors were doing work at the residence and one contractor was seen crying Monday afteoon.

Comedian Rosie O'Donnell, who sold her own Miami mansion for $US16.5 million ($18 million) in June, is reportedly under contract to buy the home. One website said the sale was worth $US5.6 million.

It has been a tough year for Newton-John, who lost her sister Rona earlier this year to brain cancer.

Jupiter Inlet Colony is a coastal community in Palm Beach with around 360 residents and 240 homes.

Tiger Woods and Kid Rock also have properties in the area.
