CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. —

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating a crash that killed a man and injured his daughter and infant grandson Sunday.

Troopers said 55-year-old Hector Diaz's pickup left the road, hit a tree and then flipped on Darby Road in Cherokee County.

Troopers said there was no evidence that Diaz hit the brakes.

”We don't know if he may have had a medical condition. There's no evidence to show that he was out of control or driving erratic prior to leaving the roadway and striking the tree, said GSP officer Tim Nichols.

Diaz died at the scene. Paramedics flew his daughter, 28-year-old Ashley Deegan to the hospital. Her nine-month-old son also survived.
