ATLANTA -- A man has been charged in a deadly shooting at the Five Points MARTA station in downtown Atlanta.

The suspect, identified as Robert Prenardo Freeman, was charged with homicide murder and possession of a firearm while in the commission of a felony.

The shooting happened shortly before 3 p.m. Friday.

Investigators said two men got into a fight, at which point Freeman pulled a gun.

"Which resulted in the suspect fatally wounding the victim, by one gunshot. Police immediately responded to the scene, and the suspect was taken into custody without incident," said Assistant MARTA Police Chief Joseph Dorsey.

Police said the victim, 23-year-old Derrick Roberts, of Atlanta, died on the way to an area hospital.

It's the second fatality to happen at the Five Points MARTA station since New Year's Eve, when a teenager was stabbed to death leaving the Peach Drop.

"Both incidents appear to be isolated incidents. That's all I can say at this particular time," said Dorsey.

Freeman was scheduled for an 11 a.m. court appearance Saturday.
