Lightning Safety Tips

According to the National Weather Service website , summer is the peak season for lightning strikes in our nation.

Some are killed and hundreds are injured by this phenomena, says the National Weather Service.

Here are some safety tips when threatened by a lightning storm:

  • Stay indoors
  • If you hear thunder, a storm is present
  • Have a plan, know where to go during a storm
  • Postpone activities
  • If you hear thunder, don't use a corded phone
  • Keep away from electrical equipment
  • Don't stand under a tree when a storm is present
