Kanye West charged with battery after ‘scrap’ with paparazzi

Kanye West has been charged with battery and attempted theft after a confrontation with a paparazzo at an LA airport.

Photographer Daniel Ramos has taken legal action against the rapper, who allegedly punched him and threw his camera on the floor during the incident back in July.

Ramos was one of several paps who were waiting for the Golddigger rapper to appear at the airport. Kanye is then said to have lunged at Ramos and tried to seize his camera.

The photographer said at the time: ‘When Kanye West attacked me, I was in complete shock.

‘All I had done was ask him a question. I was terrified when Kanye started to come at me. I backed up because I felt from the look in his eyes that he was going to attack me.’

Ramos added that he had to use crutches and a cane after the incident.

Kanye’s lawyers said the 36-year-old, who recently welcomed a daughter with girlfriend Kim Kardashian, was merely trying to prevent the paps from taking his picture.

West faces a maximum of six months in prison if found guilty.

Investigators from LA police’s robbery-homicide division had previously told TMZ that it was ‘extremely unlikely’ the rapper will be prosecuted, as there is no proof he tried to steal Ramos’ equipment.
