Hospital Employees Stop Attempted Baby Snatching By Naquelle Ballard
Naquelle Ballard, 19, is accused of attempting to kidnap a newborn baby from Southern Region Medical in Riverdale.

Officials with Southe Regional Medical Center in Clayton County say two of their employees stopped a woman from snatching a baby on Wednesday.

Hospital officials say Naquelle Ballard, 19, attempted to take the baby around 9 a.m. from the Women's Life Center.

They say an alarm went off and two employees managed to stop the woman.

”The suspect left the building; the baby never left the building, said Amanda Bartlett of Southe Regional Medical Center.
The baby was unharmed.

Officials with Southe Regional Medical Center in Clayton County say two of their employees stopped a woman from snatching a baby on Wednesday.

 

Police arrested the woman in Lake City within an hour of the incident. They believe she may have been wearing hospital scrubs, trying to pass as an employee.

Officer Phong Nguyen of the Clayton County Police Department said there was no apparent relationship between the woman and baby. Hospital officials said Ballard has never been an employee there.

Police interviewed Ballard and several family members. They also watch surveillance of the alleged incident.

Ballard had no comment as police took her to jail Wednesday afteoon. She is charged with kidnapping and false imprisonment.
