Homeless Woman Hit, Killed by Train in Norcross

NORCROSS, Ga. - Emergency crews in Gwinnett County are on the scene of a fatal train accident in Norcross.

Police say they received a call around 6 a.m. saying that a person was struck by a train. The incident occurred at  Jones Mill Road and Buford Highway.

A homeless couple tried to cross the tracks in front of the northbound train, according to Gwinnett police Sgt. Brian Reddy. The man made it across, but the woman did not, and was struck by the train and killed. Her name has not been released.

Several roads are blocked in the area while police conduct their investigation.
