Hapeville teen Alexander Mason arrested for having "bomb-making" materials
Alexander Mason

This teenager faces charges after federal agents raided his home looking for bomb-making materials.

Agents said they found dangerous chemicals belonging to Alexander Mason inside the home on Rainey Road in Hapeville.

Federal agents want to know why Mason had the chemicals.

The teen's dad said the explanation is simple -- his son is interested in chemistry.

"He's not building bombs. He does a lot of experiments. A lot of them I don't fully understand, but I'm fully certain he's not making bombs," said Mason's father Allen Chase.

Hours before the raid, agents arrested Mason for trespassing at an abandoned south Atlanta warehouse.

He now faces charges of burglary, possession of tools for the commission of a crime, and criminal trespassing.
