Gwinnett Police Search for Counterfeiters
DULUTH, Ga. - Gwinnett County police are trying to find two people they say are counterfeiters. Police say a man and woman were caught on surveillance video after spending several thousand dollars in fake hundreds.
Investigators tell Georgia Newsday the suspects are taking five dollar bills and bleaching them, then converting them into fake $100 bills.
Surveillance pictures show a man wheeling out two televisions from a Target store in Duluth, and a woman removing other electronics from the same store.
Police tell us it a happened a couple of days ago. They say the couple paid for the $3,200 in electronics with phony $100s.
Police say the man and woman left in a dark, covered conversion van with a stripe going down the side of it. They say with the holidays approaching, merchants need to be extra vigilant against counterfeiting.
