Gwinnett Man James Clay charged with murder in hotel double shooting

Gwinnett County police are investigating a double shooting that left one person dead at an extended stay hotel.

Police said two people were shot at Suburban Extended Stay on Stephens Center Drive around 10 p.m. Thursday.

Rashanda Patterson, 36, of Duluth, died at the hotel from a gunshot wound to the head, police said. Joseph Emener, 36, of Duluth, suffered non-life-threatening injuries from a gunshot.

Shortly after the shooting, police identified James Clay as a suspect. He was found at a nearby apartment complex and arrested on murder charges.

Clay, 24, is being held at the Gwinnett County jail on no bond.
