Authorities say an inmate at the Gwinnett County jail was prepared to do anything to beat the rap -- including kill his family.

Raymond Wesner is accused of trying to hire a hitman so his wife and step-children wouldn't take the stand against him.

Wesner is schedule to go before a judge Friday.

The Gwinnett county man is accused of trying to hire a hit man to kill his own family, because, authorities say, he didn't want his wife, 16-year old step son and 11-year old step daughter to take the stand against him.

Wesner has been held in the Gwinnett jail since April on aggravated child molestation charges stemming from alleged contact with the step daughter.

His cellmate told jailers the 35-year old was trying to find someone to knockoff his family.

Police set up a sting operation and an undercover homicide detective went into the jail.

He says Wesner was willing to pay him $75,000 to pull off the job.

District attoey Danny Porter says he's had cases before where inmates have tried to kill witnesses -- including ex-wives.

But has he never tried a man has for attempting to silence his entire family just to beat a rap.

Wesner faces three counts of conspiracy to commit murder and threatening a witness.
