ATLANTA, Ga. - A Blairsville great-grandmother of five celebrated her birthday with a big surprise: $1 million from the Georgia Lottery.

Gladys Wigley, who celebrated her 73rd birthday Nov. 3, won $1 million playing the instant game Maximum Green. The winning ticket was purchased at Rebels Pantry #8 on Murphy Highway in Blairsville.

”I almost passed out, Wigley recalled after scratching her ticket. ”I had to ask the girl at the counter if I was seeing it right. She was jumping up and down.

Wigley has worked at a dry cleaning business for six years. In addition to her great-grandchildren, Wigley has two adult children and seven grandchildren.

”I’ll probably retire, she exclaimed. ”I’m going to buy a house and a few things I need. I’m going to just enjoy life.
