Gov.-Elect Nathan Deal Chooses State Senate Floor Leaders

ATLANTA - Georgia Gov.-elect Nathan Deal has chosen three Republican state senators to serve as floor leaders.

Deal on Friday announced his selection of: Sens. Jim Butterworth of Clarksville, Ronnie Chance of Tyrone and Bill Jackson of Appling. Their role is to serve as liaisons between the goveor and the state Senate.

The three are set to assume their new positions when Deal takes office Jan. 10.

Deal has nominated Department of Community Health head Clyde Reese to serve as Department of Human Services commissioner. His appointment is subject approval of the board.

Deal has asked eight other agency heads to continue in their current positions, including Department of Public Safety Commissioner Col. Bill Hitchens and Department of Corrections commissioner Brian Owens.
