Georgia Woman Pamel Lewis, in Court For Daughter Having Ibuprofen

COLUMBUS, Ga. - A Georgia woman is facing criminal charges after school officials found her daughter with bottle of prescription-strength ibuprofen.

Pamel Lewis of Columbus faces a charge of distributing a dangerous drug. Her case was sent Friday to Muscogee County Superior Court.

Baker Middle School suspended Lewis' 12-year-old daughter from class for 10 days after the principal found the ibuprofen bottle in the girl's purse.

A police report says the pills came from Martin Army Community Hospital at Fort Benning but had no patient or doctor's name on it. Police say Lewis told them she got the medication from a nurse.

Lewis' family says they're outraged at the charges. School officials say any medications must be logged with the school nurse.
