Georgia trooper Deionte McAllister terminated after DUI arrest in Atlanta

A Georgia State Patrol trooper has been terminated from his job after he was stopped over the weekend for Driving Under the Influence in Buckhead.

Trooper Deionte Marlon McAllister, 24, of Suwanee was pulled over by another trooper on Peachtree Road and E. Shadowlawn Avenue in Atlanta just before 3 a.m. on Jan. 28, after driving recklessly.

According to the police report, McAllister and two others were in a maroon Ford Crown Victoria at the intersection of Peachtree Road and East Shadowlawn Avenue when a GSP trooper noticed the men were acting strangely, according to a report.

The officer said he observed McAllister revving the car as the front-seat passenger, later identified as Michael Norman, was hanging out of the window without a seat belt.

The report also states that a passenger in the back-seat, Craig Wright, opened his door as the car was ”lurching forward to get out and talk to someone inside a Ford Mustang. The Mustang was also revving, but not in a ”reckless manner, the officer noted.

The officer pulled over McAllister’s car for reckless driving and While speaking to McAllister, the trooper noted a strong odor of alcohol from his breath, plus indicated that McAllister's eyes were bloodshotand watery and his speech slow.

The trooper gave McAllister a field sobriety test, then arrested him on DUI charges.

McAllister is being terminated from the Department of Public Safety, effective Monday, Jan. 30.
