Georgia Tech supervisor Ernest Guillermo Olivares arrested for sex crimes
A supervisor at the Georgia Institute of Technology has been arrested on charges of sexual battery on a female subordinate in a student dormitory.
Georgia Tech campus police took 52- year- old Eest Guillermo Olivares into custody on June 22. According to the police report, Olivares had been reported for sexually harassing a female employee on June 20. A Georgia Tech crime log shows that the crimes occurred on June 8 and June 9 at the Maulding Residence Hall on Sixth Street, NW.
Olivares is the Senior Director of Housing Facilities Management at Georgia Tech, the department responsible for cleaning and maintaining the residence halls on campus.
A spokesperson for Georgia Tech released a statement on Olivares arrest, which read:
”On June 22, the Georgia Tech Police Department arrested Eest Olivares, an employee in the Institute’s Department of Housing. He has been charged with sexual battery and aggravated sexual battery and is in custody at the Fulton County jail. No students were involved. Olivares has been placed on administrative leave. The Georgia Institute of Technology is unable to offer further details because the Institute does not discuss personnel matters or ongoing investigations.
The police have charged Olivares with sexual battery and aggravated sexual battery. He could face up to life in prison if convicted.
