Police and eyewitnesses say that a man has been shot in the head for trying to do the right thing.

The incident occurred on Saturday moing around 1 a.m. in the parking lot of Tave at Medlock in Peachtree Coers. Police say that Thomas Rushworth was shot once in the head while trying to intervene in between two couples having a heated dispute in the parking lot.

According to investigators, the 45- year- old man stepped in after one of the men allegedly assaulted the woman that he was with. When he interjected, one of the males involved in the argument then pulled out a gun and shot him.

A representative for Gwinnett Medical Center said that Rushworth is in fair condition, and his family intends to hold a press conference on Wednesday to discuss their son’s case.
