ATLANTA - A Georgia firefighter from Powder Springs died and two others were injured Monday night after a driver suspected of driving drunk hit their car in Califoia, a police spokeswoman

Ron Herens, 23, was on vacation in Los Angeles riding in a vehicle with four other firefighters from the Marietta Fire Department at the time of the crash, Marietta police Officer Brittany Wallace said.

Herens was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. Two of the other four firefighters, Dillon Guest and Doug Blanchard, were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

"It is with great sadness that I report the death of Marietta firefighter Ron Herens," said Marietta Fire Department Chief Jackie Gibbs.

Gibbs added "he will be much missed by this department; he was a valued member of this team. We will sincerely miss him
