GBI: McDonough City Councilman shoots son
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is looking into a shooting at the home of a McDonough City Councilman.
The shooting stemmed from an argument between Councilman Rufus Amis and his son, according to the GBI. The incident happened sometime between 9 and 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.
A GBI representative told Georgia Newsday that Amis fired a waing shot into the ceiling using his shotgun, and the gun jammed. Amis’ son, Orlando, then ran out of the house, the GBI said.
Amis fired at his son twice, striking him once, the GBI said. Orlando Amis is recovering from his wounds at the Atlanta Medical Center. His father is being held at the Henry County Jail on an aggravated assault charge.
