Six officers are on paid administrative leave following a deadly shooting in Douglasville.

The shooting happened Saturday night in the parking lot of a Motel 6 in Lithia Springs.

"No matter what, this man did not deserve to be shot nine times. He wouldn’t have run, he wouldn’t have fought back," said the victim's wife, Shelly Hamby.

Family members of 50-year old Dennis Hamby say they are still trying to figure out the chain of events that led to his shooting death in the parking lot of a Motel 6 in Lithia Springs.

"Woke up and my car was gone and I made coffee and tued on the news and I’d seen my car being towed," said Shelly Hamby.

Authorities are trying to get some of those same questions answered.

Monday moing they retued to the scene of Saturday night’s shooting in the hotel’s back parking lot.

Both the GBI and Douglasville police are investigating but authorities told reporters that three officers actually fired their weapons and a total of six are on administrative leave.

"I want justice for my father," said daughter Shay Hamby.

Family members say they don’t know why Hamby came to the hotel parking lot or the circumstances of why he was pursued by police.

"Yes, he had his troubles, but he would do anything for anybody," said sister Angie Pharr.

Hamby's daughter Shay said, "He was there for me when I needed him. Daughter: He doesn’t deserve to die that way."

Authorities have not released the names of the officers placed on administrative leave.
