At a BP station on Piedmont Road and Cheshire Bridge Road, the price for regular unleaded gas stood at $3.55 per gallon.
Prices varied in several locations, ranging from $3.39 to $3.49 per gallon. The rising fuel prices are affecting everything from air travel to food.
The higher gas prices are affecting smaller, independent grocers. They say they can't absorb the cost and must pass on the increase to customers - by raising food prices.
The AAA says that since the Libyan crisis began two weeks ago, gas prices have increased nearly 30 cents per gallon.
Friday, oil prices rose to near $103 a barrel in Asia amid conces about fighting in Libya. If gas prices get as high as $120 a barrel the average American family could be spending $1,300 a year for gas.
