ATLANTA — Georgia elections officials have scolded the state's most populous county for issues during the 2010 gubeatorial election.

The Atlanta Joual-Constitution reports (http://bit.ly/WWsUBm ) the State Election Board Tuesday sanctioned Fulton County for twice mailing 226 people incorrect absentee ballots, and for hand-delivering an absentee ballot to a man who complained he didn't get one. The board dismissed seven other accusations against the county.

The board could have referred the cases to the attoey general, which might have meant more serious penalties. But instead it decided to send letters of instruction, an official reprimand for violating state rules that includes ways to fix the problems.

Fulton County was also criticized for moving too slowly to remove a felon from voter rolls in 2011. The elections board referred that issue to state prosecutors.
