Four Drown on Georgia Waterways
Divers will be back out on Lake Allatoona Monday, July 4, searching for the body of a 42-year-old man believed to have drowned Sunday evening.

ACWORTH, Ga. - Divers will be back out on Lake Allatoona Monday moing searching for the body of a 42-year-old man believed to have drowned Sunday evening.

Rescue crews from both Bartow and Cobb counties combed the area of the lake off Lucile Avenue near Old US 41 for the missing swimmer. The search was suspended just after dark. Fire officials said they will be back out sometime after first light to continue the search.

This was the second drowning on Lake Allatoona this weekend. The other happened Sunday afteoon involving a 18-year-old boy who went missing under the water while swimming near Clark Creek North Camp Ground. Officials were able to recover his body.

Georgia Department of Natural Resource spokesperson Rick Lavender said there has been a total of four drowning on state waterways. He said the other two were at Lake Lanier and the Altamaha River in Appling County. They wa boaters to use caution if they plan to take to the water on Monday as they are expecting heavy boating activity.

The names of the victims have not yet been released.
