ATLANTA — A former intensive care unit nurse has pleaded guilty in federal court to trafficking a 16-year-old girl in metro Atlanta, prosecutors said.

Jason David Williams, 42, admitted to recruiting and exploiting the teenager for commercial sex acts, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Georgia. Authorities said the victim was underage at the time of the offenses.

Prosecutors said Williams used online platforms and direct communication to arrange commercial sex encounters involving the minor and financially benefited from the exploitation.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation along with local law enforcement agencies. Officials said the investigation was part of broader efforts to combat child exploitation and human trafficking in the Atlanta area.

Williams entered his guilty plea in federal court and faces a mandatory minimum sentence under federal law. He could face decades in prison when sentenced. A sentencing date has not yet been announced.

Due to the victim’s age, authorities have not released her identity. Officials continue to encourage anyone with information about suspected human trafficking to contact law enforcement or the National Human Trafficking Hotline at 1-888-373-7888.
