Former Fulton County Detention Officer Akil Scott Pleads Guilty

A former Fulton County detention officer has pleaded guilty in federal court to attempted possession with intent to distribute cocaine. Prosecutors say 31 year-old Akil Scott of Lithonia accepted also $650 from an undercover agent to twice deliver a substance he thought was cocaine to a specific inmate.

Scott is scheduled for sentencing on Feb. 16 and could receive a maximum of 20 years in prison on each charge. He is the third former Fulton County law enforcement officer to plead guilty in federal court this year.
