Officer Jason Cooper

A former DeKalb County police officer could face criminal charges for killing a pedestrian.

Police say Jason Cooper was speeding to the scene of a fatal shooting at the Starlight Drive-In on May 14 when he hit a man crossing Memorial Drive.

Cooper was later fired.

The DeKalb County Solicitor General's office says it has now forwarded the case to the district attoey to determine whether any felony charges will be filed.

In the event that the district attoey rejects the case, the solicitor's office says it could go forward with misdemeanor charges.
