Former DeKalb County commissioner Elaine Boyer to serve 14 months in prison

Former DeKalb County Commissioner Elaine Boyer was sentenced to 14 months in prison Friday for stealing from the county.

Boyer plead guilty to stealing more than $90,000 from DeKalb County over several years. She was commissioner for 22 years.

In addition to her prison term, Boyer will also have to pay $87,350 in restitution and will be on supervised released for three years after she is released from prison.

Boyer was accused of improperly using her county-issued credit card.

She will report to prison at a later date.
