Former Atlanta officer Shawn Clark charged with murder

Douglas County authorities say a former Atlanta police officer has been arrested and charged with murder after a shooting in Lithia Springs.

According to police, Shawn A. Clark, 29, is accused of shooting and killing Antonio Ellison, 27, after a domestic dispute on Nov. 14th around 2:20 p.m.

Police report shows Clark arrived at a residence in the 2500 block of Winding Creek Drive with a female to retrieve her children and personal belongings. He and the victim reportedly got into a verbal argument that tued physical. That's when Clark fatally shot Ellison with a handgun.

Clark then left the scene.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office and Douglasville Police Department are still investigating the incident.

Clark was arrested in Union City around 10:30 that evening. He is being held at the Douglas County Adult Detention center without bond.

Clark was an Atlanta police officer, he was cited for "unsatisfactory performance" after a 2012 complaint.
