NORCROSS, Ga. - Gwinnett County fire officials say an early moing fire caused heavy damage to a home in the 5000 block of Bridgeport Way, NW in Norcross.

Neighbors called 911 shortly before 5 a.m. to report flames and smoke coming from the two-story wood frame house.

According to authorities, firefighters found the second floor and attic engulfed in flames when they arrived. The fire was shooting through the roof over the main-living space as crews deployed hoselines to attack the blaze. Firefighters entered the home to conduct a quick search before being forced outside because of fire and collapse conditions.

The blaze caused heavy damage to the home and destroyed a car that was parked in the driveway.

There was no one at the house when the fire department arrived and no injuries were reported. According to neighbors, the homeowners are possibly out of town.

The exact cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
