ATLANTA - Federal prosecutors have dismantled a three-man ring accused of plotting to smuggle semiautomatic assault rifles across the border to Mexico.

Daniel Beal-Perez pleaded guilty Wednesday to possessing four firearms even though he's an illegal immigrant. Prosecutors also accuse him of conspiring to traffic illegal guns.

Two others have already pleaded guilty to working with the 35-year-old. Dario Rodriguez-Gomez and Manuel Gamez Valenzuela have pleaded guilty to gun trafficking charges.

Prosecutors say the three were involved in a complicated plot to buy eight to 10 semiautomatic guns and smuggle them to drug cartels in Mexico.
