Father of 4 Torrez Rice gunned down at College Park gas station

College Park police said a man was shot and killed moments after he bought a new car. Witnesses said Torrez Rice and a passenger pulled into the Exxon gas station on Roosevelt Highway about 2 p.m. Friday when two men approached the vehicle. The passenger was able to escape, but Rice’s family said the father of four wasn't as lucky. He was shot and killed. Police believe robbery was the motive.
 
Rice’s daughter, Akeria Green, said she doesn’t know why anyone would shoot her father.
 
”He didn’t want to bring harm to nobody, Green said.
 
At Green’s side was her aunt, Fay Rice. Fay said she heard something happened to her brother but didn't expect the news to be this bad.
 
”My brother's gone and I’ll never be able to talk to my brother again. My nieces will never be able to see their daddy again. We can't even talk anymore, Rice said.
 
Investigators are looking at video from the surveillance cameras in the area. The victim's family said they're trying to figure out why this happened.
 
”The victim was known to have a large amount of money so we think that the people who shot him knew who he was and he knew them, said College Park Police Maj. E.W. Strozier.
