Ex-School Secretary Lorrie Edwards Charged in Theft
Lorrie Edwards

Authorities say a former school secretary in north Georgia is accused of taking some of the money donated in honor of a student killed last year in a car accident.

Chickamauga Police Chief Micheal Haney says 42-year-old Lorrie Edwards has been charged with theft by taking after money disappeared from a school safe at Gordon Lee High in Chickamauga.

Officials tell the Chattanooga Times Free Press ( http://bit.ly/wgnKhS ) that $1,200 of the $2,010 in missing money was for a scholarship fund in honor of Jordan Queen.

Queen, a 17-year-old junior, crashed his truck on Nov. 9. After his death, students and teachers sold shirts to raise money for the memorial fund.

Edwards told the Times Free Press that she's being accused of something she has not done, but declined to comment further.
