UPDATED: Ex-Deputy Sentenced For Killing Pimp

ATLANTA -- An ex-Fulton County deputy sheriff faces 20 years in prison after being convicted of killing a pimp nearly five years ago.

A jury found 44-year-old Richard Jackson guilty Wednesday of manslaughter for the July 2006 shooting death of 22-year-old Alan Griffin. Jackson was also convicted of aggravated assault and violating his oath of office.

He will be sentenced at a Feb. 28 hearing.

Prosecutors said Jackson attempted to rape a prostitute, then fired at her when she fled. Authorities said Griffin then ambushed the slain man.

The former deputy denied shooting at the prostitute. Jackson said the woman fetched Griffin after the deputy sheriff rejected the woman's solicitations and she grew angry.
