Economic Woes Forces New Birth Christian Academy To Shut Down
Officials with New Birth Christian Academy, affiliated with New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, say the school had to shut its doors due to financial reasons.

The New Birth Christian Academy is closing its doors 'temporarily' due to financial problems. The faith-based school is closing due to massive debt and declining enrollment into its academy

The decision was made this week by its board of directors, giving parents little time to find new schools for the children enrolled at the school. The school did enroll students in kindergarten through 12th grade.

In a statement, New Birth said the closure is "temporary," and it will do "everything in its power to reopen the school in the near future."

The academy is affiliated with Lithonia's New Birth Missionary Baptist Church. Officials say the decision to close the school was financial and unrelated to the sexual allegations against the church's pastor, Bishop Eddie Long.
