The East Point Mayor Mayor Eaestine Pittman furious about a recent water and sewer utility rate increase has decided to sue her city.

East Point's city council members maintain the $47 more a month hike for most households is necessary for the refinancing of water and sewer bonds and for maintenance.

In a statement, the city said the policies were well-reasoned and constitutional.

Mayor Pittman says donations paid for the lawsuit to be filed -- not city funds.
