Driver in Ferrari crash Akshay Panducherry dies in hospital

The 18-year-old driver of a Ferrari that was involved in a high-speed crash last week has died.

Alpharetta Public Safety said the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office  told them that Akshay Panducherry died of his injuries on Wednesday.

Panducherry suffered bus over more than 80 percent of his body in the crash early Friday moing.

Police said the car was destroyed when Panducherry lost control on Webb Bridge Road while traveling at a high rate of speed and drove into a wooded area.

His passenger, Harshavardhan Patlolla, 21, of Alpharetta was critically injured in the crash.

The Ferrari was a model F430, which was manufactured from 2004 to 2009. It had a base price of $171,000 and an estimated top speed near 200 mph, according to Road & Track magazine.

The Italian sports car was a gift to Panducherry from his father one week prior to the crash.
