DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. -- A Douglas County teen is accused of stabbing his grandmother and great-grandmother Monday afteoon.

The stabbing happened at a home on Springridge Drive in Douglasville. News Chopper 2 flew over the scene, where deputies blocked off the street.

The 77-year-old great-grandmother was fatally stabbed, deputies said. They said the grandmother, believed to be in her 50s, was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

The 14-year-old was barricaded inside the home for a while, but Douglas County sheriff’s Maj. Tommy Wheeler said he has since been placed in the custody of authorities.

Deputies said they arrived to the home shortly after 5 p.m. and found the teen standing in the doorway with a sword and a pellet rifle. They said the grandmother was barricaded in a room.

The teen shot at police several times with his bb gun, hitting the windows of a patrol car, deputies said. They said a 10-15 minute standoff ensued in the yard. Deputies said they used a Taser to subdue the teen.

Authorities said they were called to the home twice before in recent months. Both times he was hospitalized for evaluation and released.
