Forsyth County police said they arrested a Lumpkin County Deputy Coroner for impersonating an officer.  Sonya Abercrombie has also been suspended from her job.

Sheriff's deputies say Sonya Abercrombie and a friend ordered alcoholic drinks at a tave in Cumming. The waitress asked the two for identification.

"At that point, Ms. Abercrombie stated that she was a police officer and that she didn't need to show an ID," said Forsyth County Deputy Doug Rainwater.

According to the deputy, management at the bar called police and arrested Abercrombie.

Abercrombie was charged with impersonating a police officer. She was released on $5,610 bond.

Lumpkin County Coroner Ronald Fortner said Abercrombie, who has worked for his office for about two years, was suspended without pay once Fortner leaed of her arrest.
